Asus ROG Phone 5 Ultimate design

The Asus ROG Phone 5 Greatest is a big device and does have a few design similarities to its predecessors. It has a big 6. 78-inch screen with a tall 20. four: 9 aspect ratio. The particular borders on the sides are usually relatively slim but right now there are  slightly bigger ones at the top and the bottom. Asus has neatly tucked a selfie camera into the room above the screen, plus there are speakers at the top plus bottom for  stereo output in landscape.

The frame of the ROG Phone 5 Ultimate is created out of metal and has a premium feel to it. All the control keys are on the right side, with all the power button almost specifically in the centre. The volume buttons are slightly higher and are simple to reach. There is also a microphone pin next to the power button. Asus has also implemented  ultrasonic induce buttons called ‘AirTriggers’ on the same side. The placement is great and my index hands rested on them naturally when holding the phone in landscape to play games.

The left side of the ROG Phone 5 Ultimate has a Type-C port as well as a proprietary connector for ROG Phone accessories. This extra Type-C port can be used to cost the smartphone while gaming in landscape mode, so the wire doesn’t get in the way. Asus has  covered both of these ports with a detachable rubber flap. This SIM holder is also on the left, finished in a bright blue accent colour. It has two NanoSIM slots but there is no microSD card slot for storage space expansion. There’s nothing  at the very top,   but the ROG Telephone 5 Ultimate has an offset USB Type-C port at the end along with a 3. 5mm headphone jack.

The matte white finish of  the ROG Telephone 5 Ultimate hides fingerprints well

Asus has made the back of the ROG Phone 5 Ultimate using Corning Gorilla Glass 3. This smartphone does not have a metallic vent on the side want its predecessors, the ROG Phone three or more   ( Review ) as well as the ROG Mobile phone 2   ( Review ). There’s a triple camera module  in the top left part, which protrudes slightly. On the centre of the rear panel is a monochrome PMOLED screen which lights up when the display screen is on, and can become customised to show different graphics. It also shows alerts regarding incoming calls, and animates when a game is launched. There are two additional Air Triggers on the back that are within reach while holding the device in landscape. The back screen has a matte finish which usually manages to hide fingerprints quite well.

The ROG Phone 5 Ultimate does feel bulky given the size, and its 238g weight is noticeable while keeping or carrying it. If you don’t like big and cumbersome smartphones, you won’t find the ROG Phone 5 Ultimate appealing.

With the ROG Phone 5 Ultimate, you get a clip-on AeroActive cooler and also a 30W charger in the container. You can attach the AeroActive cooler to the back of  the ROG Phone five to help it dissipate high temperature better. There’s an additional Type-C port and a proprietary connector for ROG accessories at the left

Asus has picked the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC in order to power the ROG Telephone 5 Ultimate. It was the 2021 flagship processor from Qualcomm at the time of its release and is still one of  the most powerful SoCs on the market. This processor is equalled with 18GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 512GB associated with UFS 3. 1 storage space, which might seem like  overkill for most people. Given its equipment, the ROG Phone 5 Ultimate should be able to handle  each title in the Google Have fun with Store.

You will get support for Bluetooth five. 2, Wi-Fi 6, 6 satellite navigation systems, and dual 5G as well as 4G VoLTE. This phone packs within a 6, 000mAh battery which is split into two cells of 3, 000mAh each. The particular ROG Phone 5 Ultimate is capable of 65W quick charging but only has a 30W charger in the container.

The ROG Phone 5 Ultimate runs Android eleven with Asus’s own ROG UI on top. It had the Nov Android security patch during the time of this review. The ROG UI is customised in order to appeal to gamers, but if you desire the stock Android look, you can switch to that in the Themes app. There are a few preinstalled apps such as Facebook, Instagram, Netflix, and Messenger. Used to do not encounter any spammy notifications during the review time period.

Multiple actions have been implemented,   but not many are enabled by default. You can double-tap the display to wake the phone or place it to sleep. Smart Responding to automatically answers an incoming call when you raise the phone to your ear. You can also trace certain alphabets on the screen to launch predefined applications.

Asus also preinstalls its own Armoury Crate app, which displays all the games installed on the smartphone. A  console display shows  parameters of the device such as storage, RAM, battery pack level, and system temperature. It also displays CPU and GPU clock speeds along with their temperatures. There are different force modes that can be selected on this app. “X Mode” knobs everything up to eleven, providing you all the power this phone has to offer. “Dynamic” keeps strength balanced with heat plus battery life, while “Ultra Durable” focuses on conserving  power.

Asus ROG Phone 5 Ultimate performance plus battery life

The ROG Phone 5 Ultimate’s crisp AMOLED display acquired excellent viewing angles and was also bright enough outside, in my experience. The high refresh price makes the UI feel buttery smooth. Asus has fixed this to Auto by default, which keeps it  at 120Hz. You can manually bump up to 144Hz or slow it down to 60Hz.   I also found the stereo system speakers on the phone to be loud, and they did not audio tinny at higher volume levels.

The particular ROG Phone 5 Ultimate pretty much bulldozes through any kind of workload you throw in it. I played several games and multitasked based on a apps, without any issues. Within my review period, I had more than 10GB of RAM free of charge most of the time and never noticed any kind of lag. The in-display fingerprint scanner and face reputation were snappy as well.

AirTriggers in the right side of the ROG Phone 5 Ultimate can be utilized while gaming.

Benchmarks helped put several perspective on where the ROG Phone 5 Ultimate stands  compared to other smartphones on the market. In AnTuTu, it scored 837, 004 points which is among the highest we’ve observed. In Geekbench 5’s single-core and multi-core tests,   it scored 1, 120 and 3, 693  correspondingly. It maxed out 3DMark’s Sling Shot and Sling Shot Extreme graphics assessments, and managed to hit 120fps and 56fps in GFXBench’s T-Rex and Car Fall in love with scenes  respectively.

I then loaded up Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI), also it defaulted to the High body rate and HD graphics settings. I bumped the graphics quality up to HDR and the frame rate to Extreme. The Asus ROG Phone 5 Ultimate still ran the game at these settings without any lag or stutter.

I found the AirTriggers to be reactive and useful while gaming. You can also use the ones at the rear panel and  the physical triggers on the AeroActive cooler for gaming. We played GBMI for twenty five minutes and noticed an 8 percent drop within the battery level. The phone grew to become slightly warm to the touch which was noticeable on the metallic frame. While playing games with the Aeroactive cooler attached, the phone stayed more comfortable, but the spinning fan did drain the battery quicker.

The Asus ROG Phone 5 Ultimate offers good battery-life, and lasted  over a day time with my usage. In our HD video loop test, the phone managed to go on for seventeen hours and 28 moments. Charging the ROG Phone 5 Ultimate with the supplied 30W charger was fairly quick; the phone got to forty five percent in 30 minutes plus 86 percent in an hour.

Asus ROG Phone 5 Ultimate digital cameras

The ROG Phone 5 Ultimate has a triple camera setup within the rear. It has a 64-megapixel primary camera, a 13-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, and a 5-megapixel macro shooter. The primary digital camera captures 16-megapixel shots automatically. I found the camera application to be pretty straightforward and straightforward to use. You can easily move between different shooting modes, and in addition it has quick controls designed for HDR, aspect ratio selection, the flash, and Search engines Lens.

Photos taken with the ROG Phone 5 Ultimate  in daylight appeared good at 1st. Colours were fairly accurate and objects at a distance had been recognisable. However , on zooming in, I noticed grain  within the output. The ultra-wide-angle digital camera captures a wider industry of view but sides were distorted in the output. Photos weren’t as detailed as those taken with the primary camera, and artefacting was visible on cruising in.

The phone was quick to locking mechanism focus when shooting close-ups, and the output was sharp. It managed good splitting up for the subject and also additional a depth effect to the background. Portrait shots had good edge detection and the phone did let me collection the level of blur before consuming a  shot. The macro camera lets you get close to the subject, and managed good shots too.

Low-light camera performance was good. The phone detected low light and automatically fixed itself to capture prolonged exposure shots. It also demonstrated how long the exposure will be, so I knew I had in order to stand still. This worked just like Night mode, and the output was identical. So while this helps capture  pictures at night without fiddling with the camera app, it does make Night mode redundant. Foreground subjects looked good,   but objects at a distance were  smoothened. Shots taken without the long exposure missed out on fine detail,   especially in the shadows.

Selfies taken with the 24-megapixel front camera are amassed at 6-megapixel resolution as a result of pixel binning by default. Photos taken in daylight were sharp and portrait selfies experienced good edge detection. Low-light selfies with a light source close by were good.

Video recording tops out at 8K  for the major camera and 1080p for the selfie shooter. None of the cameras have optical stabilisation, and the phone stabilises video clip electronically. In daylight, videos shot at 4K a new little shimmer when travelling, though 1080p footage had been well stabilised. Low-light movie had a shimmer effect  in case recorded while walking, from 4K as well as 1080p.

The Asus ROG Mobile phone 5 Ultimate is an all-out gaming smartphone with devoted high-end hardware. Asus hasn’t cut any corners with regards to performance, and some might also look for 18GB of RAM  overkill. The crisp high-refresh-rate AMOLED panel, stereo speakers, plus capacitive AirTriggers make video gaming more engaging on this smart phone. However , camera performance basically the best at this price, that could turn away people looking for an all-rounder.

If you want a purpose-built gaming mobile phone and you don’t mind splurging, the ROG Phone 5 Ultimate is the best you can get on the market right now. It does not have any kind of direct competitors but you can  get much slicker flagship phones  at this price. Nearby want to spend Rs. seventy nine, 999, the base Asus ROG Phone 5 at Rs. 49, 999 offers more value for your money.
